Meet the team

Mr. Burrowes, Managing Partner of Burrowes, Chartered Accountants, has over 25 years of experience in public accounting, providing audit and advisory services to local and international clients. Formerly an audit partner with KPMG, he has provided audit and business advisory services to clients in a variety of sectors including financial services, hospitality, communications and consumer products. His clients in the international business sector have included subsidiaries of multi-national corporations.

Irving is responsible for the delivery of audit, domestic tax compliance and business advisory services to the firm’s local and international business clients.

A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a practising member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados, Irving has been a Committee Chairman on the Council of that institute. His previous public service commitments have included his role as Chairman of the then Ministry of Industry and International Business’ Advisory Committee on Non-traditional Services.

Ms. Karol Ashby, Partner of Burrowes, Chartered Accountants has over 14 years of experience in the accounting profession, including 8 years in public accounting. Karol has provided audit and accounting services to a cross-section of clients; from small and medium sized Barbadian companies to large, multinational corporations. Karol’s portfolio included clients in the tourism and hospitality, insurance, retail, financial services, and international business sectors.

Karol is responsible for managing the firm’s delivery of risk advisory and accounting services to local and international business clients.

Karol, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, is a practising member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) and currently sits on the Executive Council of ICAB where she chairs the Audit and Accounting Standards Committee. Karol is also a Certified Internal Auditor and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

An associate of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Ms. Burrowes manages the corporate and administrative services of Burrowes Integrated Management Services Inc. Ayo has twelve years of professional experience in corporate and general business management primarily in the international financial services sector.

In her previous role as corporate secretary and financial analyst with an international financial services subsidiary of a Canadian group, she was responsible for corporate administration and various compliance and treasury management functions, including anti-money laundering awareness, investment portfolio documentation compliance, treasury status reporting and settlement management.

Ayo holds a certificate in anti-money laundering awareness from the International Compliance Association and a Canadian Securities Course certificate from the Canadian Securities Institute.
